Flexible + Responsive Service

Flexible and Responsive Service

CommunityPlus provides the most flexible skilled caregiving service on the island - From one hour per week to 24 hours per day.
  • We regularly provide 1 hour visits in the community. 1h QID, no problem.
  • We will do everything possible to support people in crisis. Same day services are not a given but we have a great track record of coming through in a pinch.
  • A home safety assessment must take place before service begins. If you know there is a potential for service to be needed it is best to get the agreement and assessment done beforehand.
  • We are among the few providers who provide skilled caregivers including lifts, transfers and complex care with Nursing supervision.
  • Many providers staff a mix of skilled and unskilled caregivers under the same label.
  • Rush is the killer of care. Scheduling expertise will make or break a successful experience with home care.
  • Continuity is partially possible because Caregivers are retained long-term with living wages, benefits and pension.
  • Online portal with current schedule so Clients know who’s coming and when.
  • Communication when short changes impact client schedule times.
  • Live-in (Homestay), Asleep and Awake Overnight services available.
  • Overnights are discounted and hours are added when the caregiver is kept up through portions of the sleep period.
  • Live-in provides the best continuity and is the most heavily discounted service for high needs situations.
We are able to offer services in rural Island locations. A rural area is anywhere distant from a population center where caregivers reside. There are effectively two options in these circumstances:
  • Live-in care - A team of caregivers stay in the home consecutively for multiple days each.
  • Hourly care with exceptional travel added - Care time plus the time needed for round-trip travel.
For more details see Home Care Basics: Travel Time & Rural Travel Time
  • Friendly responsive communication from a small consistent team of local Coordinators - Brittany, Holly and Tara
  • No remote call centers or answering services used for afterhours and weekends - always the same Coordination Team answering the phone.
Pro-tip: There are a lot of moving pieces in a home care operation. Being compassionate and well intentioned isn’t enough without great organization, communication and scheduling skills.

Talk it through with a local coordinator — we’ll tell you plainly what we can and can’t do for your situation. The same person answers days, evenings and weekends.
