Catheterization

Catheterization

Nurses can provide intermittent catheterization at home to relieve urinary retention for long-standing chronic conditions - Providing much needed relief without a trip to the hospital or clinic in non-emergency situations.
  • Catheterization supplies can be specialized and some items are difficult to purchase locally on a moment's notice. Make sure to notify us if you do not have the supplies necessary on-hand.
Pro-tip: Nurses cannot help re-insert indwelling (Foley or Suprapubic) catheters or re-inflate the balloon. Check the Island Health: Find Care
page for local hospital wait times or call 911 if it is an emergency.
