Pro-tip: Home caregivers are scheduled at specific times by a central office; they are employees not contractors. Worker misclassification puts vulnerable caregivers into financial liability that they often do not understand until it is too late to avoid serious consequences. Misclassified contract workers may be more likely to work sick as they have no paid sick time and may not use the necessary PPE since they are told to purchase their own protective equipment like gloves and masks. Not ok!
