Post-Op Monitoring

Nurses provide in-home post-operative monitoring & assessment for reassurance that the health and rehabilitation process are on track. Post-op monitoring includes:
  • Condition assessment of post-operative health condition
  • Monitoring of post-op incisions & wounds
  • Cleaning and redressing under doctors orders or changes by RN
  • Advice on recuperative health
  • Checking for vitals to report blood pressure, pulse, temperature, breath rate and oxygen levels

Call 911 right away for emergencies including:

  • Chest pain or tightness
  • Choking or breathing difficulties
  • Loss of consciousness
  • Signs of a stroke
  • Severe burns
  • Convulsions that are not stopping
  • A drowning
  • A severe allergic reaction
  • A serious head injury
  • Major bleeding
  • Imminent childbirth
Pro-tip: Nurses can perform assessments to qualify symptoms but they cannot diagnose a specific illness or injury.
