Post-Op Monitoring
Nurses provide in-home post-operative monitoring & assessment for reassurance that the health and rehabilitation process are on track. Post-op monitoring includes:- Condition assessment of post-operative health condition
- Monitoring of post-op incisions & wounds
- Cleaning and redressing under doctors orders or changes by RN
- Advice on recuperative health
- Checking for vitals to report blood pressure, pulse, temperature, breath rate and oxygen levels
Call 911 right away for emergencies including:
- Chest pain or tightness
- Choking or breathing difficulties
- Loss of consciousness
- Signs of a stroke
- Severe burns
- Convulsions that are not stopping
- A drowning
- A severe allergic reaction
- A serious head injury
- Major bleeding
- Imminent childbirth
Pro-tip: Nurses can perform assessments to qualify symptoms but they cannot diagnose a specific illness or injury.
