24-hour home care provides continuous, around-the-clock support in your own home on Vancouver Island: a team of caregivers covering the full day and staying awake through the night. It is how families manage high-needs situations such as advanced dementia, end-of-life care or a serious falls risk without moving a loved one into a facility.

24-Hour services involve two 12 hour or three 8 hour visits each day with a team of caregivers who remain available throughout the night.

24-Hour Services are used for situations with exceptional needs.

  • Short-Term 24-Hour Support. usually less than a week or two, is initiated for situations including temporary condition declines or illness, respite and end-of-life care
  • Ongoing 24-Hour Support is uncommonly needed for individuals with certain challenges like a high falls risk and wandering at night or complex care including ventilators

24-Hour coverage involves 2-3 visits each day with a team of caregivers.

The setup is two 12-hour visits or three 8-hour visits scheduled back to back for continuous support.

  • 24 Hour service requires a minimum team of 8-9 caregivers per week for stable service.
  • Caregivers are present throughout the day to assist with care needs, maintain the home, do meal prep, laundry and other personal or domestic tasks.
  • Caregivers remain awake throughout the night to provide scheduled care and observe cues for additional support.
Pro-tip: In situations where a caregiver does not need to be up through the night, Live-in services provide nearly the same coverage and better continuity of care at a reduced cost.
