CommunityPlus is BC's only private Living Wage home care employer. We're locally owned, based in Metchosin, with 50+ experienced caregivers and nurses across Vancouver Island.

Before You Apply

This work demands real reliability and conscience. If you don't genuinely love caregiving, don't apply. We weed out roughly half of new hires within their first three months, so save us both the time.

Two hard requirements before we'll consider you: you must currently live on Vancouver Island, and you must have a BC Care Aide Registry number or a strong skilled caregiving background (dementia care, safe patient handling, medication administration). No exceptions on either.

Compensation and Benefits

We pay $26/hr for caregivers, $41.20/hr for LPNs, and $53/hr for RNs, plus shift premiums of $4 to $8/hr. Benefits include excellent health and dental coverage that escalates with years of service, up to 6 weeks of paid time off with bonus PTO for health and pensioners, and regular group events. Retention and Reliability

New hires have roughly a 50% chance of being dismissed in the first three months. Employees who make it past one year have a 90%+ retention rate. That's by design. Pruning unreliable people quickly means clients, caregivers, and coordinators all deal with fewer short-notice absences and less last-minute scrambling. The people who stay are the ones who show up.

Hiring Requirements

To apply, you'll need to have or provide:

  • Completion of a certified caregiving course or equivalent experience
  • BC Care Aide Registry number or BCCNM registration
  • Two professional references reachable by phone (written references welcome as supplemental)
  • Solicitor General Criminal Record Review with Vulnerable Sector check
  • BC Driver's License or BCID (front and back)
  • Current auto insurance
  • Clear TB test and valid first aid
  • COVID vaccination status
  • Direct deposit information
