At CommunityPlus, employees come first. We can only provide client-centered care with a team of well-supported caregivers who are empowered to focus beyond their own needs. In return, we expect you to do your part. Things fall apart in home care, and when there's an emergency we expect every person to help when they can so the burden doesn't fall too heavily on any one person.
That's what no-nonsense compassion looks like. We're mission focused, we get the job done, and we make sure no one falls through the cracks. We take pride in providing excellent service, and we take care of each other.
How we're structured
CommunityPlus is owned and operated by a front-line home care scheduler who has also worked as a caregiver. Our systems are designed to achieve equity for all and structured to avoid bureaucracy and workplace politics.
Compensation is unbiased and provides a living wage to everyone, with incentives and premiums set up to encourage positive behaviours. Coordinators handle the operational side: hiring, scheduling, client intakes, and non-clinical follow-ups. Nurses supervise clinical care plans, clinical incidents, and best-practice education.
What your schedule says about us
Even if employees never talk to the office, they still receive a schedule. A schedule can say a lot about the care, effort, and team culture that went into building it, or the lack thereof.
Being a great scheduler isn't about any one person. It's about making sure everyone's needs are met first, and then their wants when we can. Sometimes success means several people get moved a little so no one person gets moved too much. If Coordinators are calling with a visit outside your availability, it's because it's the least painful solution to a priority problem. Please say yes when you can. Scheduling problems get solved in order of priority, so we need responses back quickly to move on to the next one. When we all do a little, no one has to do too much.
Mistakes vs. patterns
Everyone makes mistakes. We're more concerned with patterns of behaviour and what your actions say about your intentions. When someone's actions tell us they don't care and won't act with conscience, we hear them and send them packing quickly. Half of new hires are terminated within three months.
